Ir. Dr. Vik Tor Goh is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Engineering, Multimedia University, Malaysia. He received his B.Eng. (Hons.) Electronics majoring in Telecommunications and M.Eng.Sc. degrees from Multimedia University, Malaysia in 2002 and 2006, respectively. Following that, he obtained a PhD in Computer Science from Queensland University of Technology, Australia in 2010 for his research on intrusion detection in encrypted networks. Dr. Goh was awarded the prestigious (ISC)2 Information Security Scholarship for two consecutive years, in 2007 and 2008, for his pioneering work in intrusion detection.
Dr. Goh has been involved in numerous research projects as a principal investigator or co-investigator, and has multiple copyrights to his name. His research interests include cybersecurity, computer networking, IoT, and machine learning. Due to his experiences in these domains, he has served as a technical consultant for the security industry, reviewer for international journals, and is also a panel evaluator for Malaysia’s Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) R&D research funds. He has also participated in DAAD's renowned UNILEAD programme for emerging university leaders.
Dr. Goh is a HRDF-certified trainer and has developed and delivered technical trainings in various topics related to cybersecurity, computer networking, and Outcome-based Education. These trainings were given to participants from both private and public agencies including Telekom Malaysia (TM), Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), and the Prime Minister's Office of Malaysia.
He holds multiple professional certifications including (ISC)2 CISSP, EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and Huawei Certified Datacom Associate (HCDA). Dr. Goh is also a qualified Professional Engineer (PEng, BEM) and Chartered Engineer (CEng, IET).
