Biography
Heng Swee Huay is currently a Professor at the Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST), Multimedia University. She has more than 25 years of research experience in the areas of Cryptography and Information Security. She obtained her Doctorate degree in the area of Cryptography and Information Security from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan; and both her B.Sc. (Hons) and M.Sc. degrees were from Universiti Putra Malaysia. She was the Vice President (Research & Development) from 2013 to 2017, the Director of Research Institute for Digital Security in 2019, the Dean of FIST from 2011 to 2013, and the Deputy Dean of FIST from 2005 to 2011.
She was the founding Section Representative for the IEICE Malaysia Section (Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers, Japan) from 2015-2019. Some of her important professional involvements are such as Committee Member of the Working Group for Standardisation on Cryptography and Security Mechanisms, SIRIM, since 2011; Selection Committee of the Anugerah Akademik Negara (Malaysian National Academic Awards), Ministry of Higher Education, from 2014-2022; MySEAL (Senarai Algoritma Kriptografi Terpercaya Negara) Evaluation Panel, CyberSecurity Malaysia, since 2017.
She was the Programme Chair of the 4th International Conference on Provable Security (ProvSec 2010); the 9th International Conference on Cryptology And Network Security (CANS 2010); and the 15th International Conference on Information Security Practice and Experience (ISPEC 2019). She has published over 150 refereed journal and conference papers to date. In view of her expertise, she has been invited to serve as Technical Programme Committee of more than 100 international security conferences and also as Reviewer for various journals. She has also been leading several government funded research projects as Principal Investigator.
