Biography
Prof. Dr. Md. Shabiul Islam received his Ph.D. degree in VLSI design from Faculty of Engineering (FOE), Multimedia University (MMU), Cyberjaya, Malaysia in 2008. He received his M.Sc. degree (By research) in the area of Micro controller Based System Design from Department of Electrical, Electronics & System Engineering, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Malaysia in 1997. Previously he obtained his M.Sc. degrees and B.Sc. (Honors) from Department of Applied Physics & Electronics, Rajshahi University, Bangladesh in 1986 and 1985, respectively.
Prof. Shabiul is currently a Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Multimedia University in Malaysia. He worked as an Associate Professor at The Institute of Microengineering & Nanoelectronics (IMEN) in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Bangi, selangor from March 2012 to December 2016. He also hold a position as the HEAD of Micro/Nano Electronics System (MiNES) laboratory in IMEN. Presently, he is holding as an “Associate Fellow” position at IMEN in UKM from 1st April 2017 to 31 March 2020. He served as a Senior Lecturer at IMEN in UKM, Bangi, Selangor from July 2009 to March 2012. He had appointed as an “Associate Fellow” at Department of Electrical, Electronics & System Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, UKM on June 2010 to December 2012. He served as a Lecturer at Faculty of Engineering in MMU from July 1999 to July 2009. He served as a Scientific Officer at The Institute of Electronics and Material Science (IEMS) in Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC), Saver, Dhaka, Bangladesh from 1991 to 1993. His expertise covers a wide range of engineering disciplines. They include Micro/Nano System Design, VLSI design, Microcontroller Based System Design, Micro-powering harvesting, and Digital communication System etc. He received internal & external research funds for doing his research work at IMEN in UKM from 2010 to 2023. His research support also partly contributed to the award of the Higher Education Center of Excellence (HiCOE) from the Malaysian government to IMEN recently.
Prof. Shabiul has published-Journal: ISI & SCOPUS (122); Research Books (5); Chapter in Book (1); Conference proceeding (102); & Patent (3)-Filing. He is a member of SMIEEE (93526507): IEEE Circuits and Systems Society; Member of Bangladesh Electronics Society; and Associate Member of Bangladesh Computer Society (AM476). He has recently attended at a program “Program Demand, Driven, & Development (3D) Boot Camp” in USM campus, Penang on 24-25 March 2016 organised by Talentcorp Malaysia with the collaboration with Electronic Design Excellent Centre (CEDEC), USM, Penang. He is contributing his expertise in the design and the development of a proposed prototype devices (i.e., Microprocessor device) to meet the national goal of talent development in Malaysia. He had attended intensive teaching and industrial training in Advanced VLSI Design Techniques using Hardware Description Language, ICTP organizer (Italy) at Manila in Philippines; Mentor Graphics design and simulation by Mentor Graphics Corporation (Singapore) in UKM, Malaysia; Digital Signal Processing (DSP) solution workshop at Integrated Circuit Design Center in MIMOS, Malaysia; and Tutorial course on” MPEG-2 compression” at hotel Nikko, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
