M. R. Mokhtar received the B.Eng. degree (First Class Honors) from the Department of Electronic Engineering, King’s College London, U.K., in 1998 and the Ph.D. degree in optoelectronics from University of Southampton, U.K. in 2005. Since February 2005, he has been a member of the academic staff of the Faculty of Engineering, Multimedia University in Malaysia, where he is currently a full Professor. He became a Research Fellow at City University London, U.K. for a year in 2009, sponsored by the Technology Strategy Board in the UK. He has been appointed as the Director of Collaboration and Innovation Centre at Multimedia University, Malaysia since 2011. His main research areas include fiber optic sensors and optical communication systems. He has authored or co-authored more than 60 scientific and technical papers.
