   Biography

Albert Quek is an academician in the Faculty of Computing and Informatics, Multimedia University. He possess an MSc. in Computer Science and currently pursuing his Ph.D. The first game that inspired him, wanting to be involved in game development was Nintendo’s Mario Bros. At the age of 12, he was fascinated by the complexity in the levels of the game. In the year 2004, along with his esteemed colleagues, the team has developed a full “Computer Games Development” Degree Programme, which was then the first few academic programmes that received a full MQA accreditation in year 2009. The programme has received many positive feedbacks and endorsement by the game industry. He was then appointed by MDeC as one of the panel members of Academic & Industrial Panel. He is also a panel assessor in our Malaysian Qualification Assurance (MQA).

In 2008, he had involved in a game project called Zetta Monster Plus; a multiplayer online Role-Playing Game which allows players all over the world to performed character levelling and PvP on web browsers. His experience in game development has also empowered him to work with companies in developing game prototypes, engines and gamified solutions. He continues to embark in providing consulative work to companies that are interested in developing casual and hardcore games.

In terms of research, he actively involved in research collaborations with other universities in the area of Game-Based Learning. As the results of such collaborations, he and his research team have developed a game prototype that uses GBL in helping children to learn and understand the concept of 3D space.
