Biography
Dr. Syarifah Nurleyana is a senior lecturer in the Advertising Design program and currently serves as the Deputy Dean of Academic and International Relations at the Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM). Prior to her current roles, she held positions as the FCM Postgraduate Research Programme Coordinator, Head of the Marketing Committee, Advertising Design Programme Coordinator, and Corporate Communications Manager at Multimedia University. Before entering academia, she worked as a multimedia designer.
Dr. Nurleyana earned her Bachelor's degree in Media Innovation with Honors from Multimedia University, a Master of Corporate Communication from Universiti Putra Malaysia, and a PhD in Media & Communication from RMIT University, Australia. Her doctoral research focused on immersive technologies in marketing communications, and she was a recipient of the Malaysia Australia Colombo Plan Commemoration (MACC) Scholarship during her doctoral studies. Her research interests include augmented reality in commercial and creative contexts, user perceptions of emerging technologies, and visual communication design in branding and marketing.
She has a record of success, with her research team winning awards such as a Gold Medal at the International University Carnival on e-Learning in 2017. Dr. Nurleyana has also supervised student projects that have received awards in advertising and creative content categories both locally and internationally. She has been recognized for her teaching excellence with awards for excellent teaching and best tutor. Dr. Nurleyana also collaborates on projects with local and international industry partners. Currently supervising postgraduate students, Dr. Nurleyana welcomes postgraduate supervision within her area of expertise.
