Dr. Nisha Kumari Devaraj is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Engineering (FAIE), Multimedia University (MMU). She graduated with a B.Eng.(Hons) Electronics degree in 2005, Master of Engineering Science (M.Eng.Sc) in 2010, and PhD (Engineering) in 2020, also from MMU. She has published 6 journal articles as main author and 8 as co-author, 5 conference proceedings and 4 book chapters. Throughout her tenure at MMU as a student and also a lecturer, she has been a recipient of a a bronze medal each at the 20th International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX’09) and for her project: "Nanostructured Magnetic Materials for Heavy Metal Ion Detection" at the RICES 2018 and 2019, letters of merit from the president and vice-president of MMU for her teaching evaluation scores, book award for her graduation, as well the Dean's awards for several trimesters of her undergraduate studies. Most recently, she obtained the gold medal award for her project: "Removal of arsenate (As(V)) from water via adsorption onto surface modified magnetite nanoparticles" at the iNVENTX 2023 held in MMU. She has also mentored 11 students for their Final Year Projects (FYP) mainly in the field of nanomaterials, nanostructures and mathematical modelling of heavy metals adsorption. Currently, she has 2 postgraduate and 2 FYP students. At present, she is the coordinator for the Micro-Credentials and Upskilling Committee, commitee member of the Industrial Linkage Committee (ILC) as well as the Industrial Training and Cadetship Committee in FAIE, MMU.
