Biography
Mohammad Faizal Ahmad Fauzi (CEng, PEng, SMIEEE) received his B.Eng. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree from Imperial College London in 1999 and his Ph.D. in Electronics and Computer Science degree from the University of Southampton in 2004. He is currently a Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Multimedia University, Malaysia, chairing the Center for Image and Vision Computing (CIVC) as well as heading the MMU-UKM-IMU Artificial Intelligence for Digital Pathology (AI4DP) Research Excellence Consortium. He has published more than 100 journal and conference articles to date. His main research interests are in the area of signal and image processing, pattern recognition, machine learning and biomedical informatics. He is also a recipient of numerous national and international research grants and awards, including the Top Research Scientist Malaysia Award (2024), IsDB Transform Fund (2019), Fulbright Award (2017), MCMC Senior Researcher Award (2016) and the TM GCEO Merit Award (2016). Mohammad Faizal is an active volunteer for IEEE, serving as the Chair for the IEEE Signal Processing Society Malaysia Chapter from 2008 to 2013, the Chair for IEEE Malaysia Section from 2017 to 2018, and the Executive Committee for IEEE Region 10 (Asia Pacific) from 2019 to 2024. He currently served as the MGA Potentials Committee since 2023. For his contributions to the IEEE, was awarded the IEEE SPS Meritorious Regional/Chapter Service Award in 2020 and the IEEE Region 10 Outstanding Volunteer Award in 2021.
