Biography
CHOO Kan Yeep received his B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Physics from National University of Malaysia (UKM), Malaysia, in 2001, M.Eng.Sc. degree from Multimedia University (MMU), Malaysia, in 2005 and Ph.D. degree in Physics from University of Malaya (UM) in 2017. He joined Multimedia University in 2005-2006 and 2009-2011 as a lecturer and then has been promoted to senior lecturer since 2011.
He is currently the Deputy Dean of the Institute for Postgraduate Studies and the Program Coordinator for the B.Eng. (Hons.) Electronics majoring in Optical Engineering. He had led his team to obtain full accreditation from the Engineering Accrediation Council (EAC), Malaysia. He has very well working knowledge about outcome-based education (OBE) and formulated an OBE assessment method which is now being used in the university OBE Camsys module. The OBE assessment method had been also copyrighted in Malaysia.
His research interests include Monte Carlo simulation of charge carrier transport and impact ionisation in semiconductors, anomalous transport in disorder semiconductors by fractional calculus, fractal and wavelet time series analysis, wearable biomedical devices, and smart digital farming system by machine learning.
He has been a principal investigator and co-researcher for several research projects which are funded by the MOE Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS), MOSTI e-Science, MMU Mini Fund, Motorola Foundation International Grant Scheme and Petronas R&D Grant. He has published numerous reputed international peer-reviewed journals and served as a reviewer for The Journal of Electrochemical Society.
He was a NI Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer (CLAD) from 2013-2015 and certified train-the-trainer (TTT) which was awarded by the Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (HRDF), Malaysia since 2014. He is also a member of the Institute of Physics (IOP), U.K. since 2006, member and life member of the Malaysian Institute of Physics (IFM) since 2016 and 2018, and member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), U.S.A. since 2018.
He is currently serving as the Executive Committee member for the IEEE Photonics Society Malaysia Chapter, 2021-2023.
He speaks and writes Bahasa Malaysia, English and Chinese language. He enjoys cycling, hiking, fish keeping and gardening during his leisure times.
