Biography
Dr. Ng Kok Why is a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI) in Multimedia University (MMU), Malaysia. He teaches Programmings, Algorithms, Mathematics, Computer Graphics courses etc. Besides, he is also an active researcher in 3D geometric research fields such as 3D Modeling, Simplification, Subdivision, Segmentation, Illumination and Animation. He also participates in some projects related to Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Recommender System and human blood cells research work. He leads a number of project grants, collaborates with some universities (UM, UPM, UoC, etc.), and some companies to do research and application projects. To him, "The more we live, the more we learn. The more we learn, the more we realize that the less we know". Happy and enjoy learning... :)

Personal History:
In January 1996, Ng Kok Why was a home-tuition teacher and a part-time computer salesman when he was waiting for his SPM result. After SPM, he joined Academy Tentera Udara Ipoh selection test. He passed all the strict-tests and received an admission ticket to Alor Setar for pilot training, but he gave up and continued his Form Six study. He worked as a secretary in a tuition centre while waiting for his STPM result. Once awhile he would substitute some teachers to conduct classes. In August 1998, he pursued his bachelor degree in University Sains Malaysia (USM), Penang. During each semester break, he applied from PPD Ipoh to teach in secondary school. In total, he had taught five secondary schools in Ipoh. After graduation, he tutored in Multimedia University (MMU) and pursued his Master degree there. After completed the study, he took an Industrial Attachment Leave to work in National University of Singapore (NUS) as a research associate. After completed the project, he returned and pursued his PhD study in MMU. He completed his study and actively participated in a few researches and industrial application projects. He has worked in MMU for almost 20 years. He is now a senior lecturer in MMU. He loves MMU. MMU is his second home.
A Personal Thought:
We all understood the dangerous of "Comfort zone". It is not necessary to change the environment in order to step out from the comfort zone. It is the mindset of the comfort zone. To change the mindset, perform these four principals: 努力,学习,改变,格局. Translation: Why some people did not success? Because they did not work hard (努力). Why some people work so hard (blindly work), yet to success? Because they did not learn smart (学习). Why some people learn so much, still not succeed? Because they did not change their mindset and take the action (改变). They just learn without putting into action. Why some people have changed their mindset and taken the action to change, but still fail? Because they did not adapt to the environment (格局). They are less sensitive to the changes surrounding them. The changes they made did not match to the changes around them. If they are sensitive to anything happening around them, they will quickly make decision and change accordingly. With that, they will grab the opportunies. So, how to step out from the comfort zone practically? Always try something new (e.i. ideas/projects). Thank you.
