Dr. Ong Jeen Wei is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Management and a researcher at the Centre for Management and Marketing Innovation, under the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Business Innovation and Communication, Multimedia University (MMU). His research interests include entrepreneurship, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), sustainability in management, strategic management, agricultural technology adoption, and innovation management. He has published more than 40 peer-reviewed journal articles.
In recognition of his expertise in entrepreneurship, Dr. Ong was appointed to the team responsible for developing the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia Entrepreneurship Action Plan 2026-2030. He also serves as a member of the expert panel for the University Innovation Hub Program (UIHP) in Bangladesh, a World Bank-funded initiative.
Dr. Ong also serves as the Director of Alumni Engagement, Career, and Entrepreneurship Development at MMU. In this role, he oversees the Centre for Alumni, Career Connect, the Cadetship Centre, and the Entrepreneurship Development Centre. Under his leadership, MMU was named the Best Entrepreneurship University at the Anugerah Keusahawanan Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi (Ministry of Higher Education Entrepreneurship Awards) in 2024. The university was also selected as a finalist in the 2022 and 2026 editions of the awards.
In addition, Dr. Ong is an accredited trainer with the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRDC). He actively delivers corporate training programmes as well as training for small business owners. His areas of expertise include Design Thinking, Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ), entrepreneurship, innovation management, and various behavioural and leadership-related topics.
