Biography
Mr. Wong Hua Siong completed his law degree (with Honours) at University of Malaya in 2005 and subsequently graduated with a Master of Laws from the same university in 2009. Prior to joining Multimedia University (MMU), Mr. Wong was an advocate and solicitor and joined the legal practice upon his admission to the Malaysian Bar in March 2006. He has been exposed to and gained vast experience in many aspect of general conveyancing areas for both sale and purchase and loan transactions including hands on experience on various developer sales/projects and sub-sale property transactions as well as banking and financing transactions in both conventional and Islamic transactions (acting for various financial institutions). During his legal practice career, he has personally handled, monitored and successfully advised for the release of a cumulative loan sum exceeding RM100 millions for various financial institutions. On April 2014, Mr Wong has also completed his Postgraduate Diploma in Shariah Law and Legal Practice (D.S.L.P.) from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and subsequently graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the same university in 2019.
Mr. Wong is also experienced in handling general civil and commercial litigation, with particular emphasis on banking and financial services litigation and corporate insolvency. He focuses on banking and insolvency litigation, often acting for financial institutions and liquidators. He also acts extensively on civil and corporate matters, including contractual disputes. Furthermore, Mr. Wong has represented clients in a wide variety of dispute resolution and litigation cases particularly in landlord and tenant disputes, winding-up, hire-purchase, bankruptcy proceedings, debt recovery, breach of contract and/or undertaking, distress, eviction and squatters/trespassers’ disputes, runner/accident matter, tort of negligence, Will & Probate, divorce proceeding and etc.
Mr Wong’s research interests are in the area of Conveyancing Practice, Business and Commercial Laws (including banking law), Alternative Dispute Resolution (mediation), Law of Insolvency and Land Law. Currently, he is also a certified mediator of Bar Council Malaysian Mediation Centre (MMC).
