Dr. Hezerul Abdul Karim obtained his B.Eng. degree in Electronics with Communications from University of Wales Swansea, UK, in 1998 and M. Eng Science degree from Multimedia University, Malaysia in 2003. He obtained his PhD degree from Center for Communication Systems Research (CCSR), University of Surrey, UK in 2008. He is a Professor at Multimedia University since 2021. He is also Deputy Dean of Student Affair and Alumni at Faculty of Engineering, Multimedia University. He has been teaching multimedia and computing engineering subjects. His research interests include telemetry, 2D/3D image/video coding and transmission, error resilience and multiple description video coding, and deep learning in image and video. He is currently supervising and co-supervising several postgraduate students. He is Senior Member of IEEE and currently the Immediate Past Chair of IEEE Signal Processing Society, Malaysia Section.
