Hawa binti Rahmat obtained her first and second degrees from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), with a Bachelor of Human Sciences (Psychology - 2000) and a Master of Human Sciences (Clinical and Counselling Psychology - 2004), respectively. Her Ph.D. specialises in the field of Developmental Psychology from University Putra Malaysia (UPM - 2018). In 2000, her career started as a Customer Relations Consultant. She then joined MMU in 2003 and currently holds the position of Assistant Professor. As a psychologist, she has registered with Persatuan Psikologi Malaysia (PSIMA) as a full member. She was the Deputy Dean of Research and Innovation for the Faculty of Applied Communication from 2018 - 2020. She was also a columnist for Pa & Ma and Remaja Magazines for a few years, and a panel speaker on Motivasi Pagi TV3 for 10 series in 2010. She currently holds the position of Managing Editor for the Journal of Communication, Language, and Culture (JCLC), an MMU Press academic journal indexed by MyCite and Scopus.
