Biography
Dr Guru Dhillon, a Barrister-at-law qualified from Middle Temple Inns of Courts, London was previously practising as a partner lawyer in Messrs Shah, Rina & Co prior to joining Multimedia University (MMU) in 2010. He recently also served MMU as the Dean of the Faculty of Law from March 2016 - February 2018. He is also a qualified Mediator accredited by the Singapore Mediation Centre.
His PHD study specialised in 3 main components i.e International Laws, Business Laws and Sports Laws. His Masters specialization was in Business Law attained from The University of Leeds, England. His Law degree was attained from Leeds Beckett University, England.
From 2014-Present, he has secured numerous external national grants totalling more than RM150,000 as the Project Leader. He was also involved in the National Human Rights Action Plan (NHRAP) project advising the Prime Minister’s Office. The most recent project secured was in August 2019 under the Ministry of Higher Education Fundamental Research Grant Schme (FRGS) to conduct exclusive research into national cyber security matters. The total project value was RM 60,000.
He has also been invited to give law talks/lectures to students and cademics at reputable international universities which include The University of Hong Kong; Sun Yat Sen University, Guangchow, China; Southwestern University of Poltical Sciences and Laws, Chongqing, China, Rajiv Gandhi National University of Laws in India and Sydney University. He has also given law talks/lectures at local firms and institutions as well.
Dr Dhillon also regularly publishes quality law papers in legal journals and conference proceedings worldwide and has also published a Labour Law Book entitled Understanding Labour Laws by Pearson Publishing. He is also regularly invited to be a reviewer on article submissions for SCOPUS accredited journals.
