Ts. Dr Loo Yim Ling graduated from UNITEN (Universiti Tenaga Nasional) with a First Class Honours degree in Bachelor of Computer Science (Software Engineering) (Hons.) in 2008. She was a Sabah State Government (Biasiswa Kerajaan Negeri Sabah) scholarship holder.
She started her career in a TNB (Tenaga Nasional Berhad) subsidiary research institute, IEPRe (Institute of Energy Policy and Research) as a research engineer before proceeding to pursue Master study. In IEPRe, she contributed in software development and delivery of LCCA software under a research entitled “The Development Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) Model and Software for TNB Distribution (TNBD) Switchgears”.
In order to pursue more in-depth knowledge of different areas in Computer Science, she pursued Master Degree with a research focusing on forensic science in biometrics domain. She graduated from UNITEN in Master of Information Technology with full research mode in 2014. The findings of her research entitled “Analysis of Global and Local Online Signature Features Belonging to Genuine and Forged Signature Samples” were published in ISI journal, Wiley’s Journal of Forensic Sciences.
She was invited to join Research Center of Agent Technology in UNITEN as a research member subsequent to graduating her Master Degree. Afterwards, she decided to take up one of the government-funded research title from the research center and complete the research as a PhD student to expand her knowledge in agent-based simulation. She attained Doctor of Philosophy in Information and Communication Technology in UNITEN in September 2021. The findings of her research entitled “A Self-Adaptive Agent-Based Simulation Modelling Framework for Dynamic Processes” were published in Scopus-indexed Journal of Theoretical and Applied Information Technology and International Symposium on Agents, Multi-Agent Systems and Robotics conference proceedings.
She had been a lab instructor in UNITEN during her Master study, providing coaching of operating systems course. She then moved on to become a lecturer in Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, teaching mainly on Object-Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design and Web Programming with PHP.
