Biography
R. Kannan received his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Communication and the Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Instrumentation Technology, both from Coimbatore Institute of Technology, India. He also received his Master of Engineering degree in Computer Science from Regional Engineering College (now known as National Institute of Technology), Trichy, India. He has completed his Ph.D. in Information Technology from Multimedia University, Malaysia, where he is currently working in the Faculty of Computing and Informatics. He has got the teaching and research experience of over 31 years. He has given keynote talks, served as a technical and advisory committee member for international conferences and reviewer for international journals, served as a Ph.D. thesis examiner for different universities, and led a group of projects funded by Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysian Government, Telekom Malaysia, and Intel Corporation. His current research interests include biomedical signal processing, artificial neural networks, machine learning and deep learning models, cybersecurity, cryptography, predictive models, and data compression. He is a Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education, Senior Member of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, and member of Technical Committee on Health Informatics Standard under ISC-G (Industry Standards Committee on Information Technology, Telecommunications, and Multimedia), International Organization for Standardization.
