Dr. Nur Iylia Syafiqah Binti Abdul Malik is a lecturer at the Faculty of Business, Multimedia University (MMU), with more than 14 years of experience in higher education, training, and academic research. She recently completed her Doctor of Philosophy (Management) at Multimedia University with a thesis entitled Development of Rule of Thumb Financial Literacy Training Module for Women Entrepreneurs in Malaysia: A Quasi-Experimental Study. Her research focuses primarily on financial literacy, women entrepreneurship, and training effectiveness.
One of Dr. Iylia’s most notable international achievements was her appointment as a Visiting Scholar at the School of Management, Sree Narayana Guru Institute of Science and Technology (SIMATS), India, where she taught entrepreneurship and actively engaged in academic collaboration and research activities. Her contributions in academia and research have earned her several recognitions, including the International Distinguished Young Researcher Award. Most recently, she was selected for the Women in Academia Excellence Award 2025 in recognition of her contributions to education and research.
Dr. Iylia is also a certified trainer under the HRDF Train-the-Trainer (TTT) certification programme and is actively involved in conducting financial literacy training programmes, particularly for women entrepreneurs. Her work emphasizes practical and simplified financial learning approaches through Rule-of-Thumb (RoT) techniques to improve financial decision-making among entrepreneurs.
Beyond teaching and training, Dr. Iylia is actively involved in academic research and publication. Her research project is funded under the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Malaysia. She has published several scholarly articles in MYCITE and SCOPUS-indexed journals, particularly in the areas of financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and behavioral finance.
With her strong passion for education, research, and community empowerment, Dr. Nur Iylia Syafiqah continues to contribute meaningfully to academia while advocating accessible and impactful financial literacy education for women entrepreneurs in Malaysia and beyond.
