Biography
Dr Syarifah Nurleyana is currently a lecturer in the Advertising Design programme and serves as the Programme Coordinator for Postgraduate by Research at the Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM). She previously served as the Head of FCM marketing committee, Programme Coordinator of the Advertising Design programme, and Corporate Communications Manager at Multimedia University. Before transitioning to an academic career, she worked as a multimedia designer.
Nurleyana holds a Bachelor's degree in Media Innovation with Honors from Multimedia University, a Master of Corporate Communication from Universiti Putra Malaysia, and a PhD in Media & Communication from RMIT University, Australia. Her PhD research focused on immersive technologies in marketing communications, and she was a recipient of the Malaysia Australia Colombo Plan Commemoration (MACC) Scholarship during her doctoral studies.
Her research interests are in the areas of augmented reality in commercial and creative contexts, user perceptions of emerging technologies, and visual communication design in branding and marketing. Nurleyana's research team has won numerous awards, including a Gold Medal at the International University Carnival on e-Learning in 2017. She has also led student projects that have won awards in advertising and creative content categories. For her teaching excellence, she received an excellent teaching award and best tutor award. She also has collaborations in projects with local and international industry partners.
