Che’ Ahmad Azhar, also known as Chemat, is one of Malaysia's most influential and beloved street photographers. Chemat is a lecturer at the Faculty of Creative Multimedia, Multimedia University, Cyberjaya, Selangor, Malaysia. A pioneer member of the faculty, he has taught in the field of visual communication and photography at the faculty for eighteen years.
A passionate photographer, his work has been featured on the Invisible Photographer Asia (IPA) and LENS Blog The New York Times. He has also held solo exhibitions at Leica Galleries in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur and at Obscura Photography Festival in Penang. He is frequently invited as the jury, guest speaker and facilitator for international and local photography competitions and workshops.
Chemat is a graduate of Graphic Design, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and a Professional Member of Creative Content Industry Guild Malaysia. He is currently working on a personal project entitled ‘Walk of Life’ – a visual documentation on the street life of Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia.
